We Need You

We really appreciate your interest in getting involved with us here Protect Our Winters UK. Currently, at a modest size, POW UK is growing rapidly with huge ambitions to do more - and to do so quickly. There is, therefore, no end of jobs to do!

The entire POW UK team is run by volunteers and we are currently looking to fill a few more specific volunteer roles. These can be found

1 Trustee

POW UK trustee tasks and responsibilities

The Office of the Scottish Charity Regulator (OSCR) states that Charity trustees are the people who have general control and management of the charity and are responsible for making sure that the charity works to achieve its purpose.

POW UK is a young charity and is going through an exciting growth phase in 2019/2020. POW UK is currently refreshing its 6 person trustee board. Each POW UK trustee is requested to take ownership for a portfolio of responsibilities, for example, marketing & communications, merchandise, fundraising, accounts etc. This should include setting the objectives for their portfolio and delivering against these.

Note that employees of POW UK are prevented from being charity trustees.

Who we’re looking for

The ideal POW UK trustee will be an experienced leader in the business or charity sectors who can plan and deliver against their portfolio responsibilities.

They will have experience working on their own initiative and taking ownership of a project or task, with the ability to help to build and motivate a volunteer team.

They will have a personal commitment to the mission and values of Protect Our Winters and a drive to support others to take effective action.

What you’ll get in return

Access to POW UK volunteer discounts/perks

References and valuable experience within the third sector

Support from a passionate team and access to POW events

Time Commitment

Time commitment for this role may fluctuate depending on the availability of trustees and portfolio responsibilities, however Autumn/Winter are generally busier with summer a quieter period for POW UK. Overall, trustees are asked to contribute a few hours a week to POW UK business.

Sound Like you? Fill in this form and our volunteer coordinator will be in touch.

Don't see a role for you?

As POW UK develops, new roles are always cropping up - so if your skill set does not fit any of our current vacancies noted above, be sure to enquire about other possible opportunities more suited to your skills and previous experience, we may not even know we need you! Fill out a Volunteer Application Form with a bit of background on your experience and what you'd like to do with POW UK and one of the team will get back to you!

Before connecting, it is helpful to have a think about how much time you have for POW UK - it can be hard to fit a volunteer role into a busy life! Saying this, volunteering with POW UK is an extremely rewarding endeavour and will introduce you to a community of like-minded new pals all pushing towards the same end goal.

Thanks again for your enthusiasm and we really look forward to hearing from you.
