We're beyond excited to be launching our brand new website! Welcome, and thanks for checking it out.
As we've grown as an organisation, we also outgrow the capabilities of our previous site, so it was time for an upgrade. With the help of many wonderful volunteers, we've been working hard from home across the UK, Madagascar, and the UAE to get everything up and running for launch. It was a mammoth task, but our amazing team of volunteers have delivered!
We've had a lot going on recently. Our branding has been updated, so everything, including our website, needed a fresh lick of paint. We also launched the POW Pledge, our organisational climate action tool, which requires functionality our old site couldn't provide. And on top of this, the content was bolted together, so an overhaul was needed to improve functionality and performance.
So, we're stoked to be launching a shiny new website that's been purpose-built with a focus on user experience and accessibility using modern JAMstack architecture. What does that mean? In short, the new site will be faster, more secure, and, best of all, will have a much smaller carbon footprint than our previous WordPress site.
We'll be adding more content and features, but for now, we've taken care of the essentials. You'll be able to find out about our work, learn how you can take action, donate, and buy sustainable POW UK merch. You'll can stay informed by signing up for our newsletter and checking back here for the latest blog posts.
You may have noticed that previously published blog posts are missing - don't worry, we plan on republishing some of the relevant posts here over the coming months.
It really can't be overstated, our volunteers are incredible! We're so grateful to everyone who contributed their time and skills to develop the best website possible - one that will really support our work to help passionate outdoor people become effective climate advocates to achieve systemic solutions to climate change.
Have a look around, get a feel for what's new, and we hope you're as excited for what's to come as we are.
If you have any feedback on usability or suggestions on how we can further improve our website, please get in touch.
